About Stuart
30 years on the retailer side. 12 years on yours.
The person in the room is the person on this page.
Most training companies send an associate. Some send a lawyer. Stuart sends himself — because the value of this training comes directly from lived experience, not a course script.
Stuart spent 30 years in senior commercial and operational roles at Tesco. He knows how buyers are trained, how the retailer machine works, what the pressure points are, and how suppliers get squeezed — because he was inside it.
Since 2014, Stuart has worked exclusively with suppliers — training teams on GSCOP, advising on specific disputes, and helping businesses understand a Code their retailers know intimately but rarely explain.
He is listed on the GOV.UK directory of approved GSCOP training providers — one of a small number of individuals formally recognised by the Groceries Code Adjudicator.
Why it matters who delivers your training
GSCOP knowledge is easy to read. Knowing how it actually plays out in retailer negotiations, in buyer behaviour, in how deductions get raised and disputes get handled — that comes from experience, not study.
Stuart has sat in the meetings your buyers sit in. He has seen how buyers are briefed on what GSCOP allows them to do. He knows which conversations happen before the formal notice arrives, and what the retailer's internal process looks like. That context changes what the training means for your team.
A career built on both sides of the table.
The credibility Stuart brings to GSCOP training comes from a career that spans both retailer and supplier perspectives — something no purely academic training can replicate.
Every anecdote in a session is real. Every example is drawn from cases Stuart has personally encountered or advised on.
